Please send us your work accompanied by a short bio.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please notify us if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Feel free to submit more than one piece at a time. You do not have to hear back from us about your previous submission to submit again.
We will not consider for publication unsolicited, previously published material (either in print or online, e.g. a self-published novel, a blog post, a Medium post).
Unfortunately, we are unable to give detailed feedback on rejected pieces.
Due to the volume of submissions we receive, response times may vary.
A selection of the best writing will be included in the print issues published twice a year.
We nominate for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net.
We are open to submissions of fiction, flash fiction, experimental fiction, and novel excerpts.
Word Count – While there are no restrictions on word count, pieces longer than 7,500 words tend to have less chance of being published.
If you wish to submit a novel to have it published in installments, please send us a sample of the first ten pages first. Please do not submit entire novels or collections of short stories without being asked by one of our editors for the complete manuscript.
We are always looking for fresh poetry. Please submit up to six poems grouped in a single document.
We are a literary magazine first and foremost, and therefore articles for our Culture section have to be related to literature or the art of writing. We do not publish academic papers unless they have been revised into essays.
We are also interested in pieces of literary criticism, book reviews, and culture-related articles.
If you want to submit a book review, please keep in mind that you cannot be the author of that book.
Word Count – If longer than 7,500 words, a piece should be divided into more than one part submitted as a single document.
At this point, we do not accept unsolicited artwork for publication. Should it change, we will update our submission guidelines.
