midlife crisis

can I start over?

did I really say that out loud?
what if I was a lady?
you certainly are a gentleman,
but some things can’t change—
spots on a leopard,
stripes on a zebra,
my foot in my mouth.
at least we have sex to wash away the words,
mind if I join you?
there on that bed?
it sure is comfortable
and a good place
to be drunk
again
with
me—
can you do that
again?
because tomorrow isn’t coming
and yesterday went
somewhere

and I think I lost it.
